A school shirt that got out of hand. The collar stayed. The buttons still work. Everything below the bust is gone and the back is open, held by a tie.
The Girl Code shirt halter crop top takes the language of a school shirt and cuts most of it away. The collar survives, sharp and white against the blue gingham. The button placket survives too, and the buttons actually work down the centre front. Everything below the bust is gone. The neckline becomes a halter, the back opens completely and fastens with self ties, and curved seams through the bust give the shape the original never had. Fine gingham check in blue and white keeps the reference legible while the crop and the open back make clear it is not a uniform. It works with a pleated mini skirt for the full subversion, with low rise denim, or with tailored trousers to pull it somewhere else entirely. Available in sizes XS, S and M.
Do the buttons actually open? Yes. The placket down the centre front is functional, not decorative.
How does the back fasten? The back is open and held by self ties at the neck and body.
Can it be worn with a bra? The back is open and the neckline is a halter, so a conventional bra will show. Adhesive cups or a halter style work with it.
